In was 7 or so but I remember because my father talked about it. He was NC Hiway Patrol and he was detailed to work at the site.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - very interesting, but I do not think it was nationally reported. My Dad was very interested in all things Air Force at that time. It was around that time that he and I had the opportunity to visit a SAGE Site at McChord AFB in Tacoma, WA.

Received annual training on this incident as a B-52 aircrew, even had several Warnings and Cautions that came from lessons learned in our tech manuals.
