Germany has a history of unusual political parties springing out of "nowhere." I remember back in the early 1980's when the Green Party came into the scene. No one gave them much thought. Now they are one of the strongest parties in the country, but I think their name changed. Anyway, German political parties are always an adventure. Much different than the US system of the same old thing year after year.
