This would make for a great quick NCOPD/OPD required reading.
I really liked this quote:
“Never let your ego get so close to your position
that when your position goes, your ego goes with it.”

Liked the article. Believe it's largely true for all the Services with some minor alternation of service-specific details. I have no doubt that luck, providence, or God entered into one of my greatest achievements on active duty: my number to takeoffs equal the number of landings.

CW3 Hayes (Chief) heck of a great article. That really does let you know just how much luck as well as a higher power play into a successful career. Making that star was never my definition of a successful career. As corny as it may sound for me it was always accomplishing the mission and taking care of your people. Patience, Persistence and most of all perseverance is what's required!
