Thanks Sir. Giod read. It truly is amazing how much good intel we can get for practically nothing, and how much people are willing to share without thinking about the consequences.

CPT (Join to see) - Take into consideration that the PRC and Russians are definitely using it in their intel systems.

This is a good article for those not familiar with OSINT, especially those outside of the IC. However, seeing that the writer is a recent USAFA grad, if he's headed to the IC, he'll realize that Open Source isn't "unrealized." Most of us working in this arena have a clue of the potential and utilize OSINT regularly. The problem is the shear amount of material. It's like finding the right grain of sand on a beach. If we have enough people, working long enough, we'll find it. Right now, we don't have enough people and not enough time. We will need young "cyber" warriors working this issue to find ways to maximize effort and results with limited resources. It is a good introduction though and worth the read.

I agree. To me when I read it - the unrealized portion is that we have yet to structure ourselves to be effective in its use..... both the organizations and people/systems needed to fully use it to a degree we physically can not do as of yet. How have other nations been working the angle is something am often finding as I read different articles. Great point Don!
