Why is an extended wait a bad thing SPC Margaret Higgins.

The reasons cited that make sense is the increase applications and greater scrutiny in the interview. These I view as good indicators, of specially when then numbers of confirmed citizens remains essentially the same rate.

I want more checks in the number, rate, and ability of new citizens to be confirmed. Those in the article are “permanent” residents already, so no issue with the wait.

I don't. Not one bit. They are here … legally. They are on a path to citizenship. They are golden as long as they keep their noses clean … and pass the very simplistic citizenship test when they ultimately take it.

Maybe if there wasn't 15-30 million (depending on who is counting) Illegal Aliens already in this Country, their line would move a bit faster!

From the article:
[quote]
They say there's a simple explanation for the backlog: More people are applying to become citizens. And they point out that the total number of people who are naturalized each year has remained virtually unchanged.

But there are other factors that have slowed down the process. First, during the Obama administration, the citizenship application form doubled in size to 21 pages.

Then the Trump administration made the interview process even more rigorous and time-consuming, according to instructor Samuel Bianco.
[end quote]
I'm not sure I see the problem here. Citizenship isn't something that comes in a Crackerjacks package. It seems from the article that both the Obama administration and the Trump administration put some additional rigor into the process … but the end state, the total number of people naturalized each year, remains virtually the same.
