Mars Share #3, The Next Propulsion System for Space Travel to Mars...
I shared a link earlier on "How to Get To Mars" and it was an informational short video about One of the First Missions to Mars, when the ROver, "Spirit" was set down on the 4th rock from the sun... A RP Member, SPC Erich Guenther commented about a better means of traveling to Space other than by using a "Chemical Rocket". I was both intrigued and thankful that that particular question would be raised... There are new Propulsion Systems in the works and one, in particular is the "Ion Thruster Engine"! The short video I have shared is how we will get to Mars in the not to distant future.
Scientists have discovered Gravity waves and that is now being looked at for the future and that form of space engine creates a gravity wave and theoretically can provide speeds up to 180,000 Miles /Sec or 300 Kilometers/Sec or the speed of light... It interesting to see the plans for new more advanced propulsion systems mentioned here, that could answer the potential fuel capacity problem. Its amazing things people used to think were impossible in the past actually happened. Wh ever thought landing on ht emoon was possible ? it did happen ! Who knows where else We may be able to go.

This entire propulsion subject fascinates me to no end... SMSgt Lawrence McCarter there are several other systems proposed and I will probably cover them in subsequent posts...

Sgt (Join to see) - I would think though that the actual vehicle surface would be a problem to also address at the extreme high speeds. Even current composite skins have limits but then Who ever though they would be possible either ? I'm sure that also must be something they are working on by keeping all factors in mind to allow the arrival at that far away destination in space.
