There is a good chance many died driving very late at night or early morning. I had a policy should any soldier be stuck far away late at night to call about their predicament and the result would be a verbal counseling unless they abused the process.

Sometimes my role was being a parent. I did not want tired soldiers driving long distances in a rush to make formation. Nobody abused the program.PO2 Russell "Russ" Lincoln

Let's not forget that class 6 makes money the Navy Exchange makes money off of alcohol and cigarette sales. On one hand, they say or make you take stupid classes called responsible drinking when there's no such thing.

Have a problem with alcohol? There is a solution. A.A. has a simple program that works. It’s based on one alcoholic helping another.

Nobody wants to talk about alcohol as a factor. One of the Marines was killed by a drunk driver. This happened so often.
I worked in a training command and Southern California (2013-2018) and I talked to a colonel who knew a DEA agent who was a Marine Corps. Battalion Commander. After work, his coworkers knew he was frustrated about his job when talking at the bar. The guy went home and shot himself. Here was a guy who made lieutenant colonel in 15 years. He was a single man and he had a great job but people don't want to acknowledge that alcohol is a factor.
Many of us have had family members succumb to alcohol and suicide.
People don't learn. Sobriety and being drug free saves lives!
