I'd known of the capture, I'd read of it. Also, it was mentioned in the famous Ken Burns PBS civil war series, though only about the capture, not Sailor's Creek, or anything of either capture, only that he'd in fact been captured, nothing more, that I'd read about elsewhere over a protracted period of reading about the whole war. Certainly, if the recapture was apparently reconsidered as deserving, then, quite logically, so ought, one would think, should be the original capture, though, in reading the story, the Lt who'd been shot by Lee's son, one wonders, especially given he'd survived, whether he was ever given anything, one would think that he ought also, at least to my logic, to be deserving, I'd think, though that's just a surmise on my part of course. The part about the rescindment of the medals, I found especially interesting, given that, I think, one of those that might have been ordered rescinded, that I'd read an effort was made to take back, went to the only female recipient of the MOH, a female physician, Mary E. Walker, MD, whose story, unfortunately, hspas never been filmed, and yet, I think, should be, long overdue for such depiction. I just thought all of you might find that of interest, be eager for any thoughts, many thanks.
