My family came in via Ellis Island in the mid 1930s (newcomers) and btw, for those who are "keeping score" long after slavery was abolished.

What a great legacy! I love geneology.

My Irish ancestors (maternal grandparents) came to America in the mid 1700's to settle in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. My German ancestors (my paternal grandfather's family. My great great great grandparents) went through the immigration process in 1858 in Baltimore and settled in Hartington County, Nebraska by way of Iowa. My Danish ancestors (my paternal grandmother) arrived at Ellis Island in 1924. She was 3 years old. They settled in the Yankton, South Dakota area.

Ditto. I've got part of my dad's mother's line that links back to Charlemagne through Quebec. . . .
