There has always been controversy on how much influence the President's wife had on policy decisions. Woodrow Wilson's wife apparently ran the country for a couple of years during her husband's disability. FDR's wife was quite active in politics and was very influential in FDR's thinking. And of course, Hillary Clinton attempted to become part of her husband's Cabinet and put together a health care bill. The attempt to appoint her to put together legislation on that topic inspired a lot of controversy, and probably would have been challenged in court had it ever happened.

Thanks Dale, Great post about Bess Truman. Harry had a lot of guts, Dropping the nuke bombs on Japan, but it had to be done. Japan drew first blood at Pearl Harbor and it would have cost too many American lives to invade Japan, So in my opinion an in lots of others he did the right thing. I wish that our democrat/communist adminestration had that kind of guts but the pussy ,Biden and that wannabee Harris don't even enderstand what the word courage means.

Oh dear...she thought she should have been consulted on national issues? No, Bess, no. You weren't elected and those bombing decisions were Harry's and Harry's alone.
