Forwarded to me by my Fraternity Brother who still has extended family in Israel. His take, and that of his family, is that for once the White House has acknowledged the Historical, Cultural and Religious reality that Jerusalem, and not Tel Aviv, is the rightful Capital of Israel. While it is true that Mohamed's biographers - specifically Ibn Ishaq - cite the Dome of the Rock as the site of Muhammad's alleged ascent through the seven heavens to the very presence of Allah. Those writings occurred @ 670 A.D. - long after Jerusalem was viewed as the Capital of the Nation of Israel.
