Maj Marty Hogan, today I wish to remember 1LT Thomas Gary Sikes, 2nd Platoon Leader, C Company, 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment (The Professionals), 198th Infantry Brigade, Americal (23rd) Divison, who gave his all in the Quang Ngai Province of South Vietnam on December 20, 1968. When he died, he left a wife and a one month old son, that he never even saw. Requiescat in Pace. LTC Stephen F. SGT (Join to see)

In WWI fluid maneuver warfare was still occurring in 1914 but by 1916 trench warfare dominated the western front.
1914: WWI - The first battle of Champagne begins. After minor skirmishes, the First Battle of Champagne begins in earnest, marking the first major Allied attack against the Germans since the initiation of trench warfare on the Western Front.
1916: WWI - The Battle of Verdun ends in French victory.The battle of Verdun results in a French victory after more than 9 months of intense fighting.
