I loved Wayne as a soldier...like The Longest Day

Labelling anything "best" is always subjective.
Just last night I watched The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. A classic, especially with Wayne along side James Stewart. I put it in my top 10 Wayne films.

2. The Longest Day
3. The Cowboys
4. The Shootist
5. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
6. Sands of Iwo Jima
7. The High and the Mighty
8. In Harm's Way
9. Hondo
10. Stagecoach

Perhaps in a different sequence, depending on my mood at the time.

Although not very realistic, I do like to watch The Green Berets at times.

Heck, pilgrim, I like to watch most any Wayne film.
