One day, we'll be able to have a perfectly frank discussion about "gun culture" sans the prudent 'wink wink', 'nod nod' that clearly defines the relative "sub cultures" within it. Until then, there's the obvious fact that this pandemic has shown how quickly and broadly crisis can erode at our much-presumed "normalcy". It's "fun" to buy cool-guy guns and gear, and go shoot hundreds of rounds at the range... until the thought enters one's head that your life (or the life of those you love) may actually depend on how well you use them. When those rounds that run approximately $1/piece are suddenly in short supply... each time you fire takes on a new importance. Looking at a vast collection of "custom" arms suddenly takes on a new perspective when the thought occurs to you that when you need it most... you may only have access to ONE, and around 19-30 rounds of ammunition. When you think about how long it actually takes to go from "secure and safe" to "locked and loaded"... some regulations suddenly seem less "sensible".
