I like prop comics. I hate prop politicians. President Reagan started it with Lenny Skutnik. Then President Clinton perverted it with "issue guests." It is shameless Kabuki. I have no issue with this soldier's gender identity. I just don't need the kabuki. I wish we'd get a President that would just send a Manila folder with some Kiplinger style bullets on a couple of cocktail napkins under the following headers:

Executive Branch Successes of the Year
Executive Branch Failures of the Year, with lessons Learned.

Long Range Goals (10-20 years out)
Long Range Concerns
Suggested legislation to deal with the above

Mid-Term Goals (5-10 years out)
Mid-Term Concerns
Suggested legislation to deal with the above

Short-Term Goals
Short-Term Concerns
Suggested legislation to deal with the above

You can bet those are invited as special guests only if they can somehow help the side which invites them, or harm the other side. Whoever gets invited is only being used for political stroke which disrespects or diminishes, in some minds, the value or worth of their accomplishment, cause, or exploit.

What is it that makes a transgender so special she gets invited to the State of the Union address but your everyday soldier does not? She absolutely should have said no stating her gender does not define her as a soldier. When I die, my tombstone will say something like OEF Vet, Fire fighter, NOT cisgender.
