He should take a look at the "donor" vs "welfare states" and ask that question.....

TSgt Jack Oberholtzer - I agree that any assistance should cover revenue shortfalls, not be used for mismanaged programs. There are a lot of pension funds that are in trouble, and the stock market drop has probable exacerbated the issue. There are several donor states that are as you describe, Nebraska, North Dakota, Colorado, and Washington.

SCPO Jason McLaughlin Agree, and states that had well managed funds should get assistance. My “beef” is with states that seriously mismanaged their funds and now want a bailout because of their mismanagement.

Why should we bail out states that were already mismanaging taxpayers money and already in debt before covid SCPO Jason McLaughlin

CPL Earl Kochis - How about this. States should get 95% of the revenue they send to the Federal Government, back in funding. The rest of the state budget needs to be raised through their own fiscal and tax policy. What do you think the tax rate in Kentucky would be then? Kentucky sends $34.8 billion in revenue to the Federal Government, and receives $70.8 Billion in funding from the Federal government. Why should the people from New York, Massachusetts, California continue to bail out Kentucky year after year?

Interesting since your taxpayer dollars, (I see you're from Springwater, NY) has been going to bail out welfare states for years. NY is a donor state. Your tax dollars allow for states like Kentucky and Maine to keep their taxes artificially low because they get so much more federal funding than revenue they send. How do you feel knowing that you are paying the property taxes for someone in Paducah?

SCPO Jason McLaughlin - Because my "Gag" governor is a crook and wasted the state revenue on liberal policies and is now asking for a federal bail out. Not everyone from NY is a flaming Lib from the city. I live on a small farm and pay some of the highest state taxes in America.

SFC Michael McCauley - I understand, I am originally from New York, and my father's property taxes are outrageous. But because of those high state taxes, NY is a donor state that sends more tax revenue to the federal government, then they receive, per capita, in funding. NY therefore as a state is not a burden on the federal budget.
On the other hand, the state I live in (Florida), has no state income tax, low property tax, and is one of the larger "welfare" states, getting just over $2 in funding for every $1 in revenue it sends to the federal government.
