It looks to me like the Trump administration has in fact reassessed US foreign policy and is taking us in a much better direction. As my favorite General Mattis quote says "Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until they’re so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact."

Killing everyone is not a solution that's genocide. The ideology is what needs to end, and killing and idea is impossible. Just look at the disasters that have been any other war on a noun. Terrorism isn't like a traditional enemy. It doesn't have a nerve center, otherwise after Bin Laden we would have seriously crippled it. Our policies of forever war aren't going to fix it.

All I can say is present Obama's lack of patience and making the campaign promises pulling troops out of Iraq in 2011 perpetuated two-thirds of the war on terror we have now. The article blames or worries at the generals that are now in civilian positions are warmongers and I disagree. These generals know how to win and want to win and we'll stop being the Neville Chamberlain school of thought that we've had until recently.

The fact is we haven't been winning even though we have been bombing and using JSOC in more countries now than ever before and we have only promoted extremism.

Maj, Should we have kept troops there, without any SOFA,m where the could be tried in local courts with any protection at all? Obama never had a choice and the Bush administration acknowledged that we would have to leave whew the Iraqis, refused to renew the SOFA, the decision was made before OBAM entered office and Bush had no choice in the matter either.

It was not Bush's or Obama's choice to leave, we were not given a viable choice to do otherwise.
