It's fairly predictable by now that anyone with bone to pick will go after the Commander in Chief regardless what the issue is without even considering he broader picture. Been guilty of jumping the gun a few time myself... nobody is immune.
Considering the issue in a broader sense, I wonder how many Americans outside of military, civilian support contractors, and certain political officials even knew we have a contingent of forces in Qatar prior to this explosion of media coverage assuming that the president doesn't know.
I find it difficult to accept that the Commander in Chief of all U.S. military forces had no idea that we have forces there. He is, after all, the one person in the country who receives daily briefing on just about everything going on, to include military reports.
I remember when the media and others went totally batshit crazy when the previous president announce that he was ordering 500 military personnel to some African countries to assist and advise on some matter and soon he was being accused of try to start WW3 try a media
And public who didn't have even the slightest inkling that thousand of us were there and that we'd had thousands of troops stationed all over the continent for years.... I can even remember one occasion in the 1980's when I met a group of American high school students who were shocked to see us in Germany; even more shocked to find that we'd had forces there since the Second World War.
I have no doubt today that many. If not most, of those bashing the president had ever even heard the name, Al Udeid before the anti-Trump media made it so.... but that's just my opinions n.

I am truly ashamed of the some of the responses being posted on RP by service members these days. I understand if you do not respect the man... but as serving and past members of the military you should respect for the office of Commander-in-Chief. Our enemies across the globe are watching everything we do these days... the cyber world is a great place to hang out and express your opinions on just about everything. But the world is watching and listening and they will not hesitate to use what they know against us. To quote a now famous phrase... Lordy! If you are one of those obsessed with the Russia connection you have to realize that the attitudes and expressions, expressed in pieces like this will fuel the attempts by our adversaries in the future. Don't like Trump... but please do not disparage the office. It divides and weakens us in the eyes of our enemies. As Americans who have served the nation you are a class apart, a Warrior Class, sworn to protect and defend the Constitution... you know the rest. We need to act like the Warriors and protectors we are or we will sure as hell be shooting at each other somewhere down the road.

As for those who think the CinC does not know we have 11K service members in Qatar... really? He called them out when they needed calling out... He called out NATO as well and rightfully so... When you make an agreement to you should honor the terms of that agreement. If you are being two-faced with your allies and neighbors then you need to be called on it. Please stop the knee jerk responses to this propaganda. The man is trying and has accomplished more in 10 months with rebuild our alliances - on more equitable terms than we have seen in the last 16 years. If you don't like it ... ok I get it but don't provide future grist for the cyber machines that are working against us.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - As discussed repeatedly on here that is very seldom used where they would recall a retired member to punish them for criticizing a President. I believe someone said there has been one case of it. One.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Perhaps not but still there are things that are and are not proper for Military Members including those who are retired etc it depends on how far the line was crossed once Your no longer on active duty or an active Reserve or Guard Member. People won't all have the same opinion on all issued, this isn't about not being able to think for Yourself but remaining mindful of the possible consequences of unchecked statements or acts. Social media as an example has had some negative results to the person(s) posting negative information and I still think some caution should be applied as to how or what is said. Sometime diplomacy works, or the ability to tell someone to go to H---- and they look forward to the trip. No matter Who is in the White House however there is always someone that won't like it. Anyone still on active duty esp need to be aware of the possible consequences esp on duty or in uniform.
