Good article. What it graphically points out is that you can't run government like a business, no matter how successful you may be in the business world. Success in government involves building consensus on both sides of the aisle. The failure to pass AHCA vividly points this out. Just because you have party control doesn't guarantee anything. You must develop relationships and rapport both within and outside your party. Trump just does not grasp this concept and seems to act like if he can champion a hostile takeover of some corporation he should certainly be able to get what he wants from the yokels in government. Granted he is a political outsider and needs to learn this stuff, but so far we've seen no attempt on his part to get on the learning curve. Sure, he has done things since taking office, but primarily through Executive Orders, not things that must go through the government process. It seems to be his way or no way and with that type of attitude inside the beltway afraid there a lot more failures to come.

The idea of building consensus with a party that was eavesdropping on his communications, stacked the alphabet soup of government agencies with Progressive loyalists who seek to undermine his agenda, and left minefields for him to navigate, does not look very appealing. For him to build consensus, Trump would have to abandon everything that he ran on... and so far he has been doing his level best to make good on his promises -- which is what the majority of people in this country want him to do. The American public is tired of getting fleeced by career lawyer politicians who have seemingly forgotten who voted for them; instead, these clowns play political football with each other on the taxpayers' dime, get rich at the taxpayers' expense, and spend their time hooking up the special interests that fund their campaigns and keep them elected! Trump threatens their status quo.
The Establishment has entrenched itself on both sides of the aisle and this makes it hard, but not impossible, for Trump to get things done. Despite their best efforts to knock Trump out of the race and make him fail, he beat the odds, got elected, and is chipping away at their foundation and making gains... much to their chagrin!
In two years we will see one of two things happen: 1) The Establishment takes a shellacking and many incumbents on both sides of the aisle are voted out and replaced with more conservative politicians, and America heads down a new path toward recovery; OR 2) The American people allow the lies from the media to Influence their judgment and the Establishment makes enough comeback that they stall Trump's efforts to put America first and make it great again. The American sheeple choose Socialism and the experiment in Democracy our Founding Fathers sacrificed to leave to us as an inheritance will fail thanks to the stupidity of American voters who didn't value their freedom and instead put their self-interest ahead of the common good.

Maybe in business you don't sweat the small stuff.....but in government, it's all about the small stuff. Ignore it at your own political peril.

Not just political peril, in Companies only money is as stake, in Government the stakes are often much higher. For example a significant number of folks here both officers and enlisted have made decisions for higher stakes than any Trump ever made before he became President. For him losing money was the worst that could happen in he made the wrong decision.
