Seventy-five years ago (approx. April 1943) the Tuskegee Airmen deployed to North Africa. What got me thinking about this was when I watched the 1995 movie the other day. It has been so long since I've seen this movies. The "Red Tails" remake was good but something about the performances of the actors, the lines, the war footage, and key historical references from the '95 movie makes it a true classic retelling of a story.

MAJ James Woods, while in college, we skydived at Moton Field in Tuskegee all the time. The place was in ruins. It's since been placed on the National Historic Registry and restored. I went by to see it on 4MAR15. It's spectacular!

Red Tails was "ok". Maybe my expectations of the movie was too high. Maybe based on the amount of history available I was expecting more, but it was a movie I don't regret watching, and would be on a "must watch" list of war movies if there was an official one.

My 1st flight instructor in High School, was a WWII pilot. He was a really good pilot (his decorations proved it), but he said the Tuskegee pilots could fly circles around him!
