The butt kicking the VC & North Vietnamese took from the U.S. armed forces would have decimated and defeated virtually any other group or nation state. The large bomber aircraft technology took off for the U.S. during World War 2 with the development of the B-29's plus the new means of jet technology. The Japanese received an enormous amount of ordnance for about 9 months which destroyed the hearts of the large cities in Japan. The U.S. had upgraded an additional generation of war planes through out the years prior to the Vietnam War; further, the B-52 bombers came off the assembly lines by 1954 and are still being used today but accompanied by 2 further generations of bombers - the B-1 Lancer + the B-2 stealth bomber. Laos received punishment throughout the war due to sanctuary, meaning Vietnamese supply lines went into Laotian territory and fighter went into Laos to recuperate, and became the most bombed nation of the twentieth century.
