Thanks for the history, SGT (Join to see). I wish I had attended the AWC. I never got to go. I did complete the C&GS Officer Course offered by the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. I enjoyed it, but I recognized that I missed out on what was offered at the AWC.

Here’s a twist to your comment, SGT (Join to see)! When I was serving at the 125th ARCOM in Nashville (c.1991) as the Deputy IG, the IG was attending the AWC (distance education program). He told me that the principal reason for resignation from the AWC was O-5s being picked for promotion to O-6! I can only assume that these service members assumed that they had no chance for promotion to GO. Who knows?!
BTW, the IG retired as a major general!

LTC Stephen C. - My wife's cousin went to the Dwight Eisenhower School as a Ltc. He was immediately promoted to Col. upon graduation. He was then sent to the Pentagon. On track for General?

Sounds like it, SGT (Join to see), but I really couldn’t say with any degree of certainty. The school is a senior service college, on par with the Army War College. Graduation from a senior service college doesn’t mean you’ll make general, but you certainly won’t be promoted to general without a senior service college arrow in your quiver!
