GySgt John Olson - yeah I get that- but if you are going to fly em and flaunt it, should have been escorted. The other side of the coin is recon planes were not armed that early so not really a "war plane" per se. I would expect some sort of check to verify "neutrality" in a potential conflict arena. Just me.

When I responded to this post it told the story of the two reconnaissance jets being shot down and then it said, "Also on this day was "D Day" The landing of troops on OMAHA Beach which I think should take no backseat to any story about Vietnam or Laos for that matter. My thanks for the story on the recon jets being shot down in support of the Royal Lao forces but in comparison the History Channel misses the Landing Craft(boat) on this one. WWII started for America with this landing and it should be top news today! I heard absolutely nothing on most of the major news feeds....what a shame!

There are quite a few post on "D" Day covered by some of our brothers on this site. Thanks for you comments and bless all of those that fought so that we can have this conversation today. Have a great day SFC Jim Ruether - and again thank you.
