I remembered being stationed at Garryowen in '02 when this relocation plan was first briefed along with the transition of the Western Corridor to full ROK control, redisposition of 2ID forces to include withdrawing one of the BCTs back to FT Lewis. US strategy was outdated and it made perfect sense to relocate US forces south of Seoul where they will be in a position to be a true counterattack force in support of a highly capable ROK military that is far more prepared than they were in 1950.

This is a great move a long time coming. I remember hearing this would happen about 15 years ago.

This is a good thing, at least security-wise. Too have our bases within Seoul & also NK Artillery range was not optimal. This will give us more room for maneuver- since Seoul is a huge capitol city. And I've heard it's quite a trouble with traffic there.
