PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - it is still way too buggy. The software still isn't up to date. I don't trust the plane.

If the other guy get close enough to an American fighter to real dogfight, the "pooch has beem screwed " multiple times With a modern aircraft you kill them before they know you are there, A F-18 is better in a fair, eye-ball range fight ,but only an idiot fights fair and only a idiot doesn't kill his target while the opponent is helpless to strike back. I remember people saying the same things about the F-15.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - what you need to do is to put some of those newer Technologies on the F18 like the helmet that can see through the plane like the radar system and other features that are exclusive to the F-35 and you make a block whatever upgrade F-18 Super Hornet. That's what Canada doing that's what Australia's doing.

The tech that makes the real differnce is Stealth and in must be designed in from the start. the other tech is nice to have but do not change the game. With stealth is like fighting a blindfolded opponent. Wit hour stealth you are giving the opponent a chance to take a shot at a target he can track.

My cousin flew strike missions from the Lincoln during OEF. I have a flag he flew for me on one of those missions.
