I really like that service members can start a claim before discharge, which helps speed up the process.

Back in 1973 when I ETS'd we were told if we listed any service related health problems our ETS would be delayed until the problem was fixed. Or we decided we didn't have the problem. How times have changed.

SP5 Robert Ruck - Yes, the threat of Medical hold. When I retired in 2000 they had started a program where the " final physical" was actually done by the VA.

SSG Shavonde Chase - the posting of each claim was tied to the treatment that I was receiving at the Warrior transition battalion. I don't want to stay for the medical evaluation process, I prefer to move back to my civilian employer.
I am using the VA for treatment and submitted the application for claim.
The initial claim is always easy, the hard part is always the comp doctor and proving the elements of service connection for Reserve and Guard.
I have nine Line of Duties I am still waiting to get processed.
So far it is good.

Amen. The system needs to be staffed with zero civilians and all veterans
