I totally agree with the author. We don't have a king, and you don't have to like the President to love this country. Americans are still different from Europeans...our government does not equate to our nation.

She was only interested in virtue signaling to others. No one has ever suggested you go to the Olympics for the president. You train all of your life to get there, to see the stars and stripes raised and anthem played for our country due to your efforts. It is one of the greatest athletic accomplishments you can make. Some have to sully it up by virtue signaling to their friends in the entertainment and media industries. She has embarrassed herself and the US ski team.
I did hear she had an injury over the weekend skiing. Perhaps she will not have to worry about an invite to the white house after all.

Yes. She should have just gone and won then declined the Whitehouse invite. Her grandstanding was a bit premature. Personally I don’t care if she goes to the Whitehouse or not If she wins. I think inviting sports figures to the whiteheouse is crap anyhow. Why not invite some doctors or policemen or firefighters who actually save lives on a daily basis to the Whitehouse. What does it say about our society that we value sports figures more than the above mentioned occupations?

1stSgt Glenn Brackin - Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is an insidious disease. In the first stage victims lose all sense of proportion and the President’s every tweet provokes a visceral reaction. As the disease progresses into its secondary stage the afflicted lose the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality. When TDS advances into its tertiary stage the afflicted sink into a catatonic state looking at pictures of Hillary and repeating the mantra that Trump has extinguished all joy and reason for living.

The what she said is fine, the how and why less so.
Our Olympians have never been sent to the Olympics representing the President, they go for them selfs as a life time achievement and represent the best our Nation has to put up..That makes her statement nothing but self serving ...She could have also said she is not going to the Olympics representing the KKK, Goldfish, Rocks on Mars or the Broadway cast of Annie Get Your Gun.....As she was not asked, nor had any expectation of representing them either..it would be as silly and ignorant as what she did say.
