It is interesting that teams and players break the NFL's rules regarding the National Anthem and flag
without any form of discipline considering both are set in law:
1. The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the national flag of the United States of America. It is Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but the penalty described in Title 18 of the United States Code (18 U.S.C. § 700) for failure to comply with it is not enforced.
2. 36 U.S. Code § 301 - National anthem
The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b)CONDUCT DURING PLAYING.—During a rendition of the national anthem—
(1)when the flag is displayed—
(A)individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note;
(B)members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and
(C)all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(2)when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

It's a private organization and they can create and ignore their own rules. Nothing is compelling people to purchase their product.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint Maybe the Hooked on Phonics hasn't worked for them yet. Maybe we should all chip in and get them some golden books for Christmas so that they learn to read? of course maybe the NFL should actually impose those penalties. They won't do that though because they are butthurt over Trump's comments too.
