I finally had it with cable TV and cancelled my subscription. I'm now playing with streaming video and have discovered that I can get everything I want at a fraction of the cost. First you need the best streaming device. We tried them all (well, most of the best), Apple TV, GoogleTV, Amazon Fire, and Roku. Even our BlueRay player streams video from the Internet. Roku is the best by far but we use the others for specific applications. Hell, we already paid for them and might as well use them. Apple TV to stream our iTunes music and Amazon Fire for a couple of games the granddaughters play when they're here. Let me share a couple of lessons. DirecTV Now provides live streaming of most popular stations for $35/mo. That's a fraction of either DirecTV with a dish or any cable system. Also, it provides free access to the History Channel. (I haven't yet discovered a way of tapping into that without a cable provider and I watch a lot of programming on the History Channel) CBS All Access is $6 or $11 per month (limited commercials or no commercials). We've been using the free month to determine if it's worth the price (CBS airs most of our favorite shows) Hulu Plus is a must. We also have Netflix. The combined cost of these is still less than a cable TV subscription. Of course, it helps to have a universal remote to coordinate all the devices (including TV and home entertainment center receiver) We use Logitech Elite Hub. I recommend it highly. I'm now considering shutting off the CBS All Access and DirecTV Now when the free month ends. That will really cut costs. Of course that will mean I will lose live TV (maybe not a bad thing) and will have to wait for History Channel shows to come on Hulu (about six months later). I will probably cancel CBS All Access at the end of the free month. Everything we watch on CBS except Star Trek: Discovery is on Hulu and we binge watched all episodes of Star Trek during the free month (BTW it was pretty good except for Episode 2)

Quite a few I voted for on their list. A lot more not on the list I wish was SN (Join to see)

I hear ya. Only picked the channels that are fairly uniform on all basic cable packages. Dish networks include some other undesirables.

I enjoy the local channels, PBS, Fox News, CNN, plus USA, A&E, The Food Channel, The BBC, The History Channel, American Heroes Channel, & AMC. Don't watch anything else. Unfortunately I have to have the most expensive package to get all that. So I get the basic Package and only watch the local channels, PBS, Fox News, CNN.
