Well thought out questions from VDH. Of course, we all know the answer to them, but interesting nonetheless.

Hanson is a good writer, but an extremist ideologue. I like reading his columns because he writes well, and presents good arguments. But, while I usually agree with the overarching themes, I feel he often falls prey to one of his own major criticisms of the left: the "whatever it takes" attitude. He doesn't realize the excess of his own arguments.
This particular column, posed as "what if," on the surface, would appear to avoid this problem. He isn't saying these things SHOULD happen, just asking what would happen if they did. But this is a common rhetorical tool to avoid culpability for suggestions. Yes, the article is in response to extreme partisan actions taken by the left. But two wrongs don't make a right. Advocating, however circumspectly, for retribution is the wrong path, IMO. SOMEONE has to take the high road, be the better person. Ghandi taught us that "an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind." When Republicans take control of Congress in 2023, they need to prove to the American people - a good many of whom think the GOP is almost entirely made up of racists, domestic terrorists, cultists, and/or idiots - that they are the party of DOING STUFF, rather than the party of pointing fingers or the party of UNDOING stuff.

SFC Casey O'Mally I don't really think He's making any suggestions that these should be the future actions of the GOP. I think it's more a backhanded indictment of the actions of the Dems in the recent past. A 'what not to do' if the GOP wants to maintain the respect and loyalty of the American public.

SGT (Join to see) - I appreciate your opinion. I think we just read it differently. Like I said, on the surface, it appears that way. And if he had simply left it at "what if we did that stuff" I would even agree fully. The only reason I read it the way I did is because of the specifics. When he discusses AFTER the election, and specific actions to be taken by specific people (McCarthy, Garland), in my mind, he is no longer only highlighting recent Democrat atrocities, he is discussing retribution. If the "what ifs" had been situated historically (what if the Hillary had won 2016, but GOP held the house and Senate and was trying these tactics) rather than futuristically I would agree 100%. But, alas, as it is I can only agree 48%.

Honest answer? Success or failure.
If you try to overthrow your government or other similair action, and you succeed, then you get to write the history books and call yourselves heroes.
If you fail, then of course the government is going to label you as terrorists.
History is always determined by whomever gets to write the history book.
