When German Immigrants Were America’s Undesirables

I am the second generation of the Irish Greene’s Born in the USA. My paternal grandparents immigrated from County Limmerick in Ireland in the early 1900’s. They also legally need migrated through Ellis Island. I am also the second generation of Irish Greene’s to serve in the Military.

Guten Notch Mr Chip! It is nice for you to accept me as a contact! My maternal grandfather was a VERY wealthy man in Strausburg. He took his wife, two sons,and a daughter “on holiday” and never looked back. My grandfather(born in 1899) and his brother had both been selected to attend the Nazi SS School. He did not believe in the Nazi regime and came to America legally through Ellis Island in New York. Their last name was Meyer. Unfortunately, when I as stationed in Garlstedt, Germany, I didn’t know where my grandfather was from in Germany. I have hank God my great grandfather had the knowledge and courage to pursue freedom and possible religious (Roman Catholic) persecution.
