No facts in the article, only opinion. According to 2016 Pewforum.com, 70.6% of Americans are Christian. Non-Christians make up 5.9%. The rest are "nones". Of those 70.6%; "Whites" are 66%, Blacks are 13%, Asians are 2%, and Hispanics are 16%. That means at most 51% of the population can be "White" Christians. Most "White" Christians are in their 30's with the smaller percentages in their early 20's, and past retirement. This is the standard demographic for generations. People become more religious when they marry and have children. The more religious one becomes they tend to be more conservative. That is the main thrust of leftist hatred towards religious people. They don't care what religion one is or what they prayer to, or what they practice. Leftist care about reducing the size of conservatives. For they are stopping a leftist utopia from being created.

What the subject article claims to be a minority "White" statistic intentionally ignores "White" Hispanics. Yes, most Hispanics are Caucasian. Leftist identity politics subdivide groups to weaken their influence in decision making by other leftist politicians who measure strength by voting blocs rather by intellectual persuasion. By making "White Christians" appear to be a minor voting bloc, then there is no reason to value their opinions.

Faith is important to many people, we just place it in different ideas, concepts, and/or dogma. As usual Salon doesn't really provide any real evidence or provides for anything more substantive than just opinion. Imagine an article that read that liberals or those that subscribe to this philosophy are more often than not ideologically driven leftists? I doubt there would be the simple chuckle as those of the Christian faith give this article. Mind you this is coming from an Atheist, just because I don't agree with any faith, doesn't mean that I can't see what it provides other people and don't think that I should point out what it doesn't do for me. Faith - in anything can bond more than divide - we just saw that in both Texas and Florida. Where were the leftists there? Where were the civically minded leftist driven folks there? Thus why this article doesn't make any real points of substance. The more you see a group pointing out intolerance, the more it seems that said perspective is guilty of the very intolerance it accuses another group to be..
