Why The All-Volunteer Force Struggles More Than Draftees

I hate that today's all volunteer military is having problems reintegrating back into society. I hope, after the elections are over, there will be more open employment for the vets. For the married vets, I don't know how they make it in or out of the military. The costs of living far exceeds the pay a married couple has in the military. I guess I'll just have to continue to keep them in my prayers.
There are signs that today’s vets have greater problems reintegrating into society that in previous eras. Perhaps most consequentially, today’s vets suffer from higher unemployment than not only their civilian peers, but also vets of previous generations.
In years past, troops were drafted–they didn’t even want to be in the military in the first place, but they snapped back into civilian life much more quickly than some of today’s vets, who all wanted to serve. Could that be part of the problem?

I think part of the problem is that most of those coming out of the military to reintegrate, didn't want to leave in the first place. Most draftees are usually itching to get back to reintegrating.

Just a theory on my part. I chose to join the Civil Service under the Air Force, so in many ways I'm still not "reintegrating".

I would also like to add it helps not to have certain individuals(John horse face Kerry)telling the American public the people who go into the Military do so because they can't make it in the civilian world!

That's actually what happened in 2006 during the surge. We got a lot of shitbags in the Army. The other Departments pick and choose, Army takes all. But we did get some good ones.
