In Turkey, when they repave the road they just go over the top and eventually the clearance signs are way off. One of my staff had the job of going around the country on roads we used for convoys and equipment and physically measuring clearances on the bridges.

Way back when, I knew the height of my livestock trailer. The packhouse gave me directions, knowing my height. I came to an underpass, that based on the stated height, I should have a few inches clearance. When I pulled up to the bridge I did so slowly, in the right lane, it cleared until I was inside the underpass, I started scraping the top so I eased to the left lane, now I had about an inch clearance and made it through. My guess is the road had been repaved and the sign not changed.
