While stories like these are becoming less common - except in the USA where the bottom seems to be growing...still a large portion of the world's population wakes up hungry in substandard surroundings. On the good side though, when I was a kid in the fifties, more than half the world lived like this. Now it is supposedly around 10%...but I think those numbers a skewed a bit because there is a very thin line between poverty and just enough to get by.
Someday, maybe... this will be just ancient history.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I wrote a long and elegant reply, quoting Steven Pinker's book on Violence and his data...and it got lost in cyberspace, or was to liberal for Rally Point Alogorhims to tolerate. LOL
So I will just write the punchline I used...which comes from one of my favorite Comics (Joe Rogan) : "Oh, year Mr. Silicon Valley millionaire, you think you are so smart? Well, let me ask you this question: "If I put you alone in the forest with only the clothes on your back and an Ax....how long until you can send me an email?"
LOL
