The reaction from the other two ladies says a lot about society. They just stood there for a moment and were hesitant to help. Fortunately there were workers in the hole to help. I hope no one got hurt... after all that is wrong to say it was still funny though...

She was taken to the hospital but didn't sustain any serious injuries. As to your other point, most people are hesitant to help because they don't know how. (A problem that Boy Scouts and service members don't have)
