This is a part of growing old that I just think is so cool. I washed and waxed our floors today so that when my new six month old granddaughter get here at Christmas...well, she can slide down the hallway on a blanket pulled by her big four year old brother.
So that wore me out...and I decided not to cook for tonight. Instead, I went to Jersey Mike's. The Owner used to be in the 25 INF DIV...and stayed 1 Quad away from me. So I tend to support his shop.
An elderly guy (and when I say elderly...I mean like 90!) was in front of me, he had a list in his hand. I could see the handwriting...and each order was in a different style. So we got to chatting while waiting.
Turns out he lives in a fancy Senior Citizen Luxury Apartment Complex. And they have Bridge games on Monday. So they take a lunch break in between sessions and when they change partners. So he said he was going to Jersey Mike's ...and well, eight other people wanted Jersey Mikes.
So he had them write down what they wanted...and he got them all sandwiches.
I asked him how he was going to figure out the change...as some wanted chips, others wanted drinks...and then all the different sandwiches.
He laughed.
"I am treating everyone. It is easier that way than trying to keep track of change."
I said: "Wow, that's pretty cool of you."
He winked at me.
"I'll get it back in sexual favors (pause) from the women."
I couldn't help it. I roared.
