So I was thinking about my old girl ( Debbie), my True Love (Kathy), my five Sisters, and my five brothers, and then...my best friend for sixty years. Then I thought about my two daughters....and my granddaughters and grandsons.
And it dawned on me...first that I was lucky to have Family that still likes each other. Secondly that my kids think I am old school, but lovable. And thirdly...how many more women were influential and important in my life than the men in it were.
Don't get me wrong, I have close relationships with the guys in my life. And I loved my Best Friend Eddie...and post on his Obituary Wall several times a Year.
I count on my Brothers and the guys I write to "snail mail" are wonderful friends.
But my favorite siblings growing up were my Sisters. I loved them all. In fact, when I dated after Debbie moved on, if I liked you, I took you to one of my Sister's houses for Dinner. Whether it be Kay, or AnnMarie, or Janie (My Irish Twin, and we shared an Apartment when I got home from the Army) .
Sometimes, my dates became better friends with my Sisters and their Hubbies, than they did with me. More than once when I stopped dating a girl, I would find out they still dropped by my Sister's house for a cup of coffee, some cake and conversation.
My Kathy, is (by far) the woman who fills my life with wonder. My daughters make me laugh, and my oldest granddaughter says: "Pop Pop is like having your very own Toasted Marshmallow. Soft warm and huggable. " And that makes me laugh too.
When I married Kathy (we got married in a living room in Austin, because Kathy is Canadian, and Immigration only gave us a five day window to get married. Long story but that's what happened.) And at that little ceremony, the only family was my little brother Timmy, who lived in Austin. And nine of my friends...all girls. I didn't really date any of them, we just were buddies.
So in my world women are the ones who made a real difference in my life.
Guys are good people, but women Rock!

@kevin Hughes for so many reasons that other people do not have the reflections you have, you have been blessed to witness such richness from your bloodline.

Oh believe me, Sister Phylis, I do not take for granted the luck I have had with people who care in my life. And gratitude comes easy to me. And I have burned as many bridges as I have made.

LOL, I must have five or six friends who refer to their Wives as: "She who must be obeyed." It makes me laugh.

SGT Kevin Hughes - I really like that line also Brother Kevin. We owe it to Brother Phil for bringing it up.
