Can my leadership or my 1ST Sergent make me reschedule a mandatory SFL-TAP appointment?

I was originally told I dod not have to go to mountain peak because I had appointments now top is saying I do. I printed off AR 600-81 and pointed out where it says leadership should support soldiers transitioning and create an environment where there transition is valued. They said it wasn't black and white enough. They said there isn't anything saying they can't make you reschedule. What can I do?

Yeah, you're going to do MTN peak. I've been there for that. Also, you're clearly not a cadet, anything else we should know?

Mission First.
I once signed up for a six week college course (two afternoons a weeks) with commander's approval. I attended first day then was deployed that evening to parts elsewhere. I did not go to any classes the whole period - except I returned the day before the last (finals day) classes.
The next afternoon a runner came from the 1SG (he was 'That Guy') saying I had to report to the course's classroom. It was then the instructor asked me who was I? After a short conversion he told me that even if I maxed the finals it was 50% of the grade and since I had not taken any of the weekly tests I couldn't pass his course. He did offer me the choice of withdrawing, which mean I still had to pay the tuition but I would have an opportunity to come the next quarter without double payment.
My 1SG was displeased that he had to draft a Memorandum for Record to the Brigade Commander. I did have to report to the BC, but since the mission had been for him his only question was I going to attend the next class. I think the BCs influence kept me off the next deployment so I was able to attend.
LTC Jim Coe, MSG Kurt S, SFC Christopher Smith have all made a comments on here and I agree with them all. It is what it is.

You'll note the regulation says "should." This means that leadership isn't required to do anything to help you transition, but it is permitted. I don't know the term "mountain peak", but if it's the name of an operation or exercise where the unit's mission requires your support, then they have a good reason to require you to participate. Mission comes first, then people, no matter what slogans may say. You've done the best thing you can to correct the situation, you're getting out.
