Have you seen the Army Times photo of SMA Dailey wearing his Army Service Uniform?

???? For someone sitting in an office all day or along that line of work, fine. But for most Soldier, Marines, Airmen and Sailors it just isn't practical! A mechanic, infantryman, combat engineer, engineer, chemical NCO, DS, etc.. all need to be in duty(work) uniform because these are people that do lots of physical labor(dirty work). If you sit at a desk and run errands and attend meeting then the Class A or B uniform is great , but not for a Soldier climbing undera vehicle for a service.

SFC Stillman G. I mentioned that in my post. For regular work, on base at the job, utilities or other work attire is fine. I am talking about away from work, when on leave or traveling etc.

As SFC John Gates stated that Class B's are the norm in the Pentagon and I can tell you from when I was stationed there back in the mid 90s it was normal during day shift it was a little more laxed for swing and mids. I also agree with what SFC Stillman G. stated and I was about the only one on dayshift in my shop that was authorized BDUs do to my duties.

Jeff, I believe (my opinion), unless you're on official travel and HAVE TO wear a uniform or on Emergency Leave from overseas (and have to wear uniform)then a person should be in civies. Exceptions would only be traveling back and forth to work from home and stopping to get fuel, pick up food to go, grabbing milk, eggs, bread from convenience store. I don't believe Soldiers (OF ANY RANK !) should be wondering around Walmart (insert your favorite place here) or wherever till all hours of the evening, going to clubs, or other places of business after being released for the day. Not saying I am not proud of the Uniform, I spent 23 wonderful yrs wearing THE UNIFORM with pride and am still proud of my service and that of my peers.
