Good Red Friday morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to this edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for February 21, 2025.
Today's APOD is a segment of the overall mosaic of the Andromeda Nebula (M31) taken by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). You can find the larger image by following a link on the APOD page.
This study of M31 is the largest photomosaic ever assembled from HST observations. It has taken over 10 years to make this vast and colorful portrait our nearest galactic neighbor, stitching together over 600 Hubble overlapping snapshots. Scientists estimate this mosaic captures the glow of 200 million stars.

It's so much more beautiful than any artist imagining could ever be.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney My sons do that too and I don't know for sure if they have lost their hair or not. Probably not because if I don't get mine cut every 2 weeks I would have to braid it.

WOW That Just Reminded Me Of One Of The Lady's I'd Dated.
She Had Long Black Braided Hair Which Flowed To Her Waist
From Under BOTH Arm Pits.~ She Was A Rare Gem.

Maj William W. 'Bill' Price - Every time I think I have a good grasp of physics, I am always taken aback by the immensity of the Universe, and all that is out there in the vastness of space... and in that vastness we (people) are just minute particles of life created by God... reaching out to learn all they can about what God created...
