It's a good thing that this shutdown won't last as long as the 2013 incident since there are more arrogant hardliners in the GOP than there are in the Democratic party.

To be honest I would prefer that the military is not exempt from government shutdowns. Shut down the government, the military stops working as well. No more national defense (except nuclear weapons), no operations around the world, nothing. Then maybe we might not have as many shutdowns.

There was an amendment put in there that had nothing to do with military pay that’s why he refused it.

It didn't come across on C-span. Do you know what that amendment was, and why he didn't just have one of his R's do an amendment to take whatever that was off? I don't think paying the military fits his narrative, which tells me he doesn't care as much about him as he cares about the win. This is not a defense of the Dems' side at all. But Pres Obama signed legislation in 2013 at the beginning of imminent shutdown, and it was an easy, bi-partisan vote. Holding the military pay hostage for this shutdown in wrong, IMHO.

I agree. I can’t find the link, but my understanding was they tried to force DACA funding or CHIP funding into it. I could be wrong, but it’s wrong anyway you slice it.

If you think the bill proposed to ensure certain military benefits were still paid had DACA and CHIP funding attached to it then you've been mislead. Sen. McCaskill was very clear in the video that she was proposing the same thing that was proposed in 2013 under Obama.
