Funny you should post this Chip. I just wrote in another thread that the Military doesn't care about your opinion on Climate Change...for they have to plan and react to threats. And Newport News Naval Shipyard has already written a bunch of papers warning that Sea Level Rise is a threat to National Security. And they have plans.
Where I live, the local Council way back in 2006 hired an Engineering Firm with an impeccable record for accuracy and measurement to do a "Study" on the shoreline in our area (and an adjunct study on Wetlands) . They paid the firm millions, because they wanted the best study money could buy...and they got it. And promptly paid them and ignored all of their findings. The Developers did not like the data. So they just said: "Your numbers are way off."

The report actually gave a range, and went with conservative numbers...and all those numbers were exceeded- in some areas by a lot. And they recommended not to develop wetlands. A decade and a half later...and both wetlands and shoreline have shrunk, or have been altered. Partly by Storms, which the report stated would have bigger and longer lasting impact in the coming years.

Money, talks, but if it doesn't give the right answers...more money talks back. LOL

SGT Kevin Hughes The Military I Served In Cared a Lot about Climate Science. Navy Scientists have been Screaming about Climate Change as Long as I Can Remember. Of Course My Opinion is that of Master at Arms to Chief of Staff Commander Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command/Naval Research Labs.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - They still do care a lot...and they have hard data to back up what they are doing. They are leaving the "who's to blame" to the Media...and just quietly dealing with the hand they are dealt. Including Russia building forts at the North Pole, and at least seven Nations vying for the vast oil reserves as the Arctic Ice melts away. It used be Canada when it was frozen, but when it became open water, it went back to treaties signed for Open Seas Waters made in the late seventeen and eighteen hundreds. It forced Canada to build an Ice Breaker it can't afford...and to beef up their Air Force too.
Politicians can say whatever they want, Commanders want to protect their troops, fulfill the mission, and be ready before the threat hits. And they are doing exactly that.
