When I was living in Florida working at a Drug and Alcohol treatment center. We also did a transition for those who wanted to go out and work and live in a drug free place. We had several trees and I could spend my time just watching the Squirrels. So I bought some uncooked peanuts. I started leaving peanuts at a Y in the branches. Then I would walk away and sit down to watch. Before leaving them I made sure that I rolled them in my hands to leave my scent on them. Ultimately I was able to walk over to the tree, put a nut on my shoulder, she would sit on it while she ate. Then I would leave. One day I had my door open and she came inside looking for a hand out. LoL

a funny story, one day I was looking in a bird house to see if any birds were still there. As I looked around the inside the house out of the dark a head popped up. It scared the hell out of me. The beast jumped out of the house and to the tree and was gone. After I got over the shock I realize the beast was just a little flying squirrel. I laughed at myself it was a little fella, but the second or two I saw him, he was very cool.

Maj John Bell thanks I don't know what it is but I have always had a connection with animals, people who swear that they have a pet who nobody else can get close to. I will just go over sit down and genuinely am petting them in about 15 minutes.

Cpl Scott McCarroll - I have the same thing, particularly with large animal livestock. I get calls from people who cannot get their horse or bull into a trailer, or cows or doe goats they can't get on a milking stand. My entire starter herd of goats were animals that people said were unmanageable.
