West Point changes its mission statement

From article: As a result of this assessment, we recommended the following mission statement to our senior Army leadership: ‘To build, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation.’”

What’s wrong with that?

As an enlisted guy who attended the USMA for a minute, here is my $.02: DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY is still the motto. The mission statement focuses on soldiering and the change creates a linkage between the Academy and the force. The motto remains and further sets the tone that USMA graduates have additional values that come with their position within the force.
