I remember my day at the German qual range. We were told of the reduced rate of fire of the M240B as opposed to the MG-42. It is still a beast.

That was a very enjoyable Sandboxx read by Steve Balestrieri. Although that MG-42 sounds like incredible fun at 1,550 RPM, I'm quite satisfied with my one-at-a-time 1933 Orberndorf Mauser Standard Modell Carbine. A friend (former gunsmith) gave me the barrel & Action back in the early 90's. We did a bunch of work on it as I wanted to make it look as close to his 7mm Weatherby as possible.
