While the announcement may raise eyebrows as the first arms sale to a NATO nation since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, such arms requests have a long tail that requires months or years of work to get to a public announcement.

Seems to me that we should reopen several of the old bases in Europe (Spain included) in response to the aggression in Ukraine. After all, the point in closing them was due to the decline of the USSR. If Putin wants to play that game, let's play... Torrejón & Zaragoza Air Bases in Spain, open for business with US assets.
