In the heyday of cattle drives, blacks made up about 25 percent of cowboys. Another 25%-30% were Latino.
Sure not like the movies told it.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel “I met him at a bar and we got to talking, and he said that he was working on a documentary about Black cowboys,” McClellan said. “I kind of laughed because the only image of a Black cowboy that I had in my head was Sheriff Bart in ‘Blazing Saddles.’”

It's truly captivating to delve into the historical roots of Kansas City, especially its ties to Western culture and the legacy of Black cowboys. Growing up in the area, I've often heard tales of cattle drives and the bustling atmosphere of the city's livestock trade. The sight of a Black cowboy riding along East Bannister Road is a vivid memory that speaks to the enduring spirit of the West in our community. On a related note, I've been exploring options for barrel racing saddles, and I stumbled upon some great finds at https://www.saddleonline.com/21-barrel-racing-saddles
