My hope is for an Iran free from religious rule. After 47 years, it looks like everyday Iranians want it too.

I agree. Back in my B-52 days we had a pilot who had been an Air Atache in Iran come back to flying to meet his flying time gates. He described people with ideals very much like ours. Granted the protesters of today are probably the grandchildren of those people, but you have to believe that they want the life their grandparents had rather than the harsh religious rule they're under.

As some people in this country fail to recognize is the severity of the situation and how bad things are out there, compared to the misguided, childish, and violent protests we see here. The Iranian people are literally speaking out for their lives' sake while here in the US you mostly have protestors protesting for the sake of protesting. In doing so, many are trying to push the limits of protesting vs stepping over the line and break the law. Ath the seom time, in some cases, the cause they speak out for contradict their stated values. LGBT for "free Palestine" is an example... So is storming unauthorized zones within the Capitol building when law enforcement has ordered them to stop. The Palestinian people under the rule of Hamas do not support the LGBT lifestyle and would persecute them in that region, and thus the contradiction. The people who thought storming into the Capitol and creating a riot is OK, is not consistent with law abiding practices which many of those same people demand (and thus, another contradiction).
As I said, the Iranian people are facing a radical, theocratic, and authoritarian government, which has prioritized far too much over the the people's welfare and security. What they are doing, unlike what would happen in the US, is putting their lives on the line only for speaking out against the Government. For any American to think we have the same problem here is asinine, naive, and ignorant. At its worst, those people simply run the risk of looking stupid and uninformed in this country. Iran is about to hold a public execution of one of those protestors if they haven't already. This is not the first time nor is it an uncommon thing from them to do. We have a right to assemble and speak out in general and even against the government. This is guaranteed in the Constitution. That does not equate to organized violence, obstructing LEOs, and encouraging more of it through an enabling group of local and state government officials who simply hate Trump. Especially those who facilitated the situation in the first place.

100% agree... We are playing stupid games in this country and they are distractions for our LEOs (in reference to our other discussion). I too have had my share of visiting, studying, and even living in other nations (I think I'm close to 40 countries visited, and 5 actually lived in). We have it great here and I will maintain (from what I know is a biased perspective) we are not perfect, but that we are be best nation on this earth. But that does not keep me from wanting to continue visiting other nations to see the beauty and culture they all have to offer. I recently visited Malta, which became my 2nd most favorite country outside the US (Spain is first to me). I hope to return for Christmas one day.

Maj John Bell - God Only knows...
That said,
LTC Stephen Conway - Please keep me out of your discussions with MSG Stan Hutchison. I have no interest in what he has to say as he crossed the line with me long ago, in which I decided to no longer engage with him, and subsequently blocked him. There is no need to tag me on your responses to him. I don't care.

Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin Sorry, I apologize. I tagged you today. I can tell he avoided my rebuttals and he must think CSM Parviz and his former 2 Star RIAF General are fake individuals.

Strange that he's considering action against crackdowns on protests in Iran while saying we aren't doing enough to crackdown on protests against ICE in the US.

Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin well the content of the issues/disasters are different, but the negative affect on any country interferes with the seamless business of running the government.
