The 2019 Chevy Camaro is miles ahead of the 1980 Camaro Z-28 I bought new in '80. My Z-28 had the 350 CID engine, four barrel carb, 4 speed manual transmission. The horsepower was not all that great though so I helped it out a little. I changed the exhaust system by removing the catalytic converter and installing a set of racing headers with straight dual exhaust pipes. I replaced the factory four barrel carb with one from the local racing shop and they also did a little work on the engine.
The new Camaro SS looks great but it is out of my price range. Thanks for the post TSgt LaPointe.

I've had a few F Bodies. I never let anything stock. My favorites were my '68 and '71. I'd love to get a new one, but sadly I can't stop buying bike parts and guns for that long! The Camaro is a bit spendy for me anyway. Maybe I could work my way into the I-4 version, but I wouldn't be happy! LOL

I bet you that four-cylinder gets over 30 miles per gallon driving on the highway at 80 miles per hour! Back in the day, with old 1967 big block Oldsmobile Cutlass with a 400 V8 that I got from a wrecked 442, racing cam, headers Etc, I was lucky to get 10 to 12 miles per gallon.

The new Dodge Challenger gets 28 miles per gallon highway and about 20 in the city with an 8-speed automatic. I can imagine this new Mustang and the new Camaro does as well if not better then that

TSgt David L. I think I need to walk to my next briefing with my books held in front of me and my other hand in my pocket...
